Before he passed away he recorded some of his World War 1 memories on to cassette tape. His son Duncan gave us access to the tape, which we have digitized and you can listen to using the link below:.
ORSON LUCAS
Orson Lucas was the Father of Duncan Lucas, President of the GWHS.
 
Orson was born in Wigston in September 1896. By 1911 he was living with his parents in Paddock Street in Wigston and was employed in the hosiery trade.
 
He served in the Great War, firstly in the Leicestershire Regiment, and later in the Manchester Regiment, where he was awarded the Victory Medal and the British War Medal.
 
Orson passed away in 1980.
