HISTORY WALKS 2023

As part of the July Archaeological Festival 2023, the GWHS will take part again with walks of Wigston Magna, South Wigston and the Wigston Cemetery on the dates listed below.

The walks, guided by Peter Cousins, will start at 7.00pm, and will cost £5 per person, split between the GWHS and the Leicester Fieldworkers.

OPEN DAY AT THE GREATER WIGSTON HERITAGE CENTRE

Come along, have a free “cuppa”, and talk to our volunteers about the history and heritage of Wigston. Local books, maps, dvds, documents, scrap books and more. Take a look at our extremely popular digital photograph archive – over 15,000 historical photographs indexed down to individual street level. Our latest document acquisitions will also be on show.

There will also be a display of Aylestone history and the “Journeys In To The Past” series of books.

AT 2.00PM THERE WILL BE A FREE PRESENTATION BY PETER COUSINS – “ORSON WRIGHT – CHAMPION OF THE PEOPLE”
